In traditionally designed overhead lines, when subjected to direct lightning strikes or induced lightning, the insulator connections in the line system cause flashovers and burn the wires in a very short period of time. The lightning strike and disconnection of overhead lines have become a major problem in the power system, and the emergence of lightning protection hardware has effectively solved this problem. The fitting is installed on the overhead wire near the line insulator. When the lightning overvoltage exceeds a certain value, a flashover will be caused between the piercing electrode arc-striking arm of the lightning protection fitting and the grounding electrode, forming a short-circuit channel and a continuous power frequency arc.
